The latest Android phones can be called mini computers as they can do almost everything that a decent PC can do. However, one of my favorite things about Android devices is that they can act as your personal assistant as well.
After the success of Apple’s Siri, Android’s Google Now became quite popular and is a brilliant personal assistant, especially to add reminders on Android.
Google Now can set reminders and if you find yourself forgetting things during the day, then Google Now’s reminders can make your life a lot easier. Continue reading to find out how you can set reminders using Google Now and through 3rd party apps from the Google Play Store.
Method 1: Google Now
Google Now is Google’s response to Apple’s Siri and this feature makes using the phone a lot easier. From voice commands to asking questions, Google Now is the perfect assistant on Android.
A while back Google Now introduced reminders and you can now use this feature to create and set up reminders in just a couple of seconds. If you’re totally new to Google Now, then you might be interested in reading my post on how to use Google Now.
Download and install the official Google app on your device if you don’t already have it installed. You can download it through the button below. You might need to enable Google Now from the official Google app.
Launch Google Now, tap on the Microphone button and tell Google Now to set up a reminder. For example, you can say “remind me to pick up the clothes at 11 AM tomorrow”.
You can also set up a reminder without using a voice command if you don’t want to look crazy speaking to your phone in public. Simply tap on the Reminder button in the lower left hand corner of Google Now and press the Plus button to add a new reminder.
If you used the voice command and gave all the information, then Google Now will create the reminder automatically and you just need to check whether the information is correct. If you used the Reminder button instead of using the voice command, then you’ll need to enter the information manually, such as reminder name, day and time.
You can also choose a custom location and set the reminder on repeat. Once the information is correctly entered for the reminder, tap on Remind me at this time. That’s it! You have successfully set up a reminder using Google Now.
Method 2: To Do Reminder
If you’re not a fan of Google Now, then you can use a third-party app from the Google Play Store. One of these apps is To Do Reminder and it is one of the best reminder apps available for Android. Like Google Now, this app also supports voice commands as well as manual setting of reminders.
The best thing about this app is its integration with Facebook and it lets you sync Facebook birthdays. You can then wish others either through a wall post or through a message.
Download and install To Do Reminder on your Android phone or tablet. Grab the app below.
Open the app and tap on the Create Task button.
Tap on the Microphone button to create a reminder through a voice command or manually enter the details such as date, time, repeat and title.
Tap on the Save button. That’s it! You have successfully set up a reminder.
Method 3: Simplest Reminder
As the name suggests, Simplest Reminder focuses on providing a very simple way for setting up reminders with the least taps or steps. The app doesn’t have any complications and as soon as you open the app, you’ll be able to create an instant reminder.
While the app is easy to use, it does feature some advanced settings such as vibration pattern, notification sound, snooze length and whether you want the screen to turn on when the reminder goes off.
Download and install the Simplest Reminder app on your phone or tablet. You can download the app through the Play button below.
Open the app and type in the reminder text. Enter the date and time and tap on the Tick button in the lower left hand corner. That’s it!
I usually use my phone for power-hungry things, such as games and web browsing. While doing this, I sometimes forget the basic stuff that my phone can do, such as creating reminders and taking notes.
We sometimes forget that our phones can also act as a personal assistant and if you have the need to set up regular reminders, then you can do so in just a couple of seconds on your Android phone or tablet. I believe that Google Now is the perfect way to set up reminders, specially because you can use voice commands.
However, if you find Google Now annoying or too complicated, then you can use one of the 3rd party apps mentioned above to set up reminders. Make sure that you follow the instructions on how to add reminders on Android and feel free to shoot us any questions in the comments area below.
