There are a lot of child-friendly apps available on the Google Play Store, however, I was surprised to find that there are not many child safe messaging apps on Android. It is true that no messaging app can be completely made child safe because you never know what the other person would say but there are some measures app developers can take to ensure children are not exposed to something they’re not supposed to see.
Personally, I think it’s a bad idea to allow children complete access to smartphones until a certain age. But these days it’s becoming harder and harder to do so, because smartphones and technology are such an integral part of our day-to-day lives. These child safe messaging apps try to provide a significantly safer messaging experience for your children but they are not perfect by any means. To be fair, it is extremely hard to make a kid safe messaging app altogether.
Note: The child safe messaging apps on Android were tested on a Sony Xperia Z smartphone. They all worked fine and no problems were faced during the testing. You might need an active Internet connection to access some of the features of these apps.

Disney Mix is a hybrid between a social messaging app and Disney content news portal. If your kid is a Disney fan, which I’m pretty sure they are no matter their age, they’ll find this app not only attractive but also entertaining to use.
Your child will be able to easily express themselves by using their favorite Disney and Pixar characters from a ton of different movies. From the Zootopia to Finding Dory, this app has a lot to offer in terms of pictures and gifts. Your kids will be able to chat with their friends via text and send stickers, music, sounds and games.Show Downloads
Each list has an app that is my personal favorite and Monster Messenger is my pick on this one. This builds from the ground up to be a child safe messaging app for Android and it shows. One of the important aspects of this messenger is the parent-child communication, it makes it very easy to share not only educational links but also loving messages.
From photos to drawings and from voice to text messages, everything is easily shareable with your kids. There are also a lot of cute stickers to share that add a 4 layer to the conversation. The app comes with full parental control that allows parents to manage their children’s accounts, check out their contact lists and block any unwanted people with ease.
They can also monitor the invitations their children get. This is why I highly recommend this child safe messaging app for Android to anyone looking for a completely safe and secure messaging experience for their child.Show Downloads
This 3rd app is not exactly a child safe messaging app for Android but it does allow a certain degree of parental control over their device. Basically, it is an overlay and the launcher that provides additional security measures over the standard ones. So, you’ll be able to restrict access to certain messaging apps and only allow your kids to use what they really need.
I would recommend this for kids above 10 years because they might not fancy the childish look of the apps above. One of the best things about using this app is the ability to time the usage; for example, if you only want your child to access the messaging app from 6 PM to 9, you can easily set it up.Show Downloads
These were a few kid safe messaging apps for Android. I know, the list is quite small and frankly I expected a lot more apps to be available on the Play Store but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. However, the second app alone is worth your time and will probably become your favorite child safe app for messaging.
