Android has become quite a powerful gaming machine in recent years. And it’s no surprise to see some great MMO games for Android in the Google Play Store.
Usually MMOs or massively multiplayer online games take up too many resources. Thankfully, now Android has those resources to give. In some ways, Android MMO games are more of a strain on the hardware than the best 3D games on the platform.
I’m personally a lone wolf in video games, but sometimes my old high school buddies suck me into playing with them. Recently they have been playing Pocket Legends, and I join them from time to time. In short, MMO games on Android are best played with friends.
Note: The best MMO games on Android were tested on a Samsung Galaxy Note III with a stable Wi-Fi internet connection. All of the apps will need an active and reliable internet connection to work properly. Some of the games are massive in size and will require a large free space on your internal storage. The games worked fine, and no technical problems were faced during testing.
This may not be the number one MMORPG game for Android, but it does a few things really well. One of the major concerns about playing MMOs on smartphones is heat. Yes, in hot countries the smartphones tend to get a little hotter in the summer.
Arcane Legends is a great MMO experience which relies on good gameplay mechanics rather than visuals. This keeps the resources the game uses in check and results in a comfortable level of gameplay for everyone.
The game also comes with a pretty awesome loot system but is completely based on your luck. The character creation feature is also very neat.Show Downloads
This MMO game for Android will take its sweet time to download. And after it’s done, it will download some more. But, the end result is something special.
The game comes with some of the best looking visuals that are complimented by spectacular lighting. Iron Knights also has a pretty engaging story so to speak. I haven’t gotten that far in the game, but it will most definitely return to learn more. There are several modes to keep you entertained for a very long while.Show Downloads
Order & Chaos Online
Gameloft has been making some pretty awesome games for Android. Order & Chaos Online is their attempt to replicate the charm of World of Warcraft on Android. To some extent, they have done a great job of making an accessible Android MMORPG game.
The best thing about this game is the settings. The world is large and ready to be explored. From mountains to deep forests, there is a lot of ground you can cover while having wholesome fun with your online pals. The game also allows you to play solo if you are not into the whole social questing thing.Show Downloads
Legion of Heroes
Legion of Heroes has some of the best looking visuals I’ve seen on an MMO game for Android. These are not as amazing as the best looking games for Android, but still the game manages to impress. The character models featured in the game as also well animated.
I also really like the classes and races in the game. You can play as a badass panther-girl with a katana; what other reasons would you need to check the game out? Customizing and collecting heroes is very addictive. You can also play epic 45 players versus 45 player multiplayer events.Show Downloads
Rise of Darkness
This is one of the few MMO games on Android which use isometric view (titled top down view) of the battlefield. If you are an avid PC gamer, the view is almost the same as Diablo. This view has an obvious advantage because you will be well aware of your surroundings, and there is less chance of getting jumped.
The game allows you to convert into fiends and as a result, deal massive damage or save your life. The game also has a great variety of skill sand dunes which can help you rack up great combos. Inferno and trial modes are great for those looking for a challenge.Show Downloads
Before you ask, yes the name of the game is in all caps. This game is a standard Japanese MMO role-playing game hybrid. While it cannot be categorized as fully MMO, as there are not a lot of players playing in your instance of the game. But the game does has some great co-op modes that can be enjoyed with your friends.
Hunting large enemies is way more fun when you have a team of friends to back you up. The game also has some amazing classes to play. I especially liked the costumes and moves of the assassin.Show Downloads
RPG Elemental Knights
Want to play with cute looking characters with epic weapons and magic? I’m sure you do! This of one of the few MMO games for Android, which feature non-serious looking characters. The game comes with 5 pre-defined classes, and you can create your own too.
There are thousands of items you can obtain and make your character more powerful. The game comes with a dedicated chat system complete with emoticons. If you are not comfortable chatting with words, you can simply use one of the great gestures in the game to communicate.Show Downloads
Elements: Epic Heroes
This is another great looking MMO for Android. The characters are minimalistic, but the armor and weapons are all distinctive. The game comes with quite simple, touch screen optimized controls. A simple tap to control mechanics of the game complement the touch screen well and are easy to follow.
You can make online friends at Skyrock by using the global chat system. You can add friends and hire them as mercenaries as well. The gems you collect can be used to upgrade your armor and weapons.Show Downloads
This game has to have the best character design I have ever seen. The character models are insanely detailed and are unique. I would love to see this design implemented on some console and PC games as well.
The developers have done a remarkable job of including a good story into the mix too. The best part of the game is that it can be enjoyed solo. You can hire companions to keep you company in your adventures. There is even a giant ogre to hire and an awesome ghost knight too.Show Downloads
These were some of the best MMO games for Android available for free on the Google Play Store. All of the games have something unique to offer, and I highly recommend that you give each one a go. There are some people who love the last entry on the list while others may find the first one to be a better game.
There are a lot of factors in play when selecting a suitable MMO game, so you won’t really know which game will gel well with you until you play them.
