Method 1: Android Device Manager
This is probably the easiest and most reliable method to track your Android phone since this comes directly from Google and is built into Android devices. You don’t need any third party app, and you can easily enable tracking on your Android device using the built-in Android Device Manager.
Go to the Settings app on your Android device and click on Security.
While in Security, tap on Device Administrators.
Next, check on the Android Device Manager option under Device Administrators. After you check this option, you’ll get a popup asking for certain permissions. Simply click on Activate. The phone’s part is now done and it is is ready to be tracked.
Next, you’ll need to use your PC in order to track Android device. For this, open the Android Device Manager page on your PC. Once you open it, you’ll need to sign in with your Google account. Make sure that you use the same ID that you use on your Android smartphone.
After you log in, you will get up a popup asking for permission to use your location. Click Accept.
Next, you’ll get the list of Android devices that are registered with your Google ID. Simply choose the one that you want to track.
Now, you’ll need to click on the GPS/Location icon in order to find the exact location of your device. This might take a while since the location is shown via Google Maps.
If your device is lost somewhere in your house, you can also click on the Ring option. This will make your phone ring for five minutes at full volume. You can also select the Setup Lock and Erase option to lock your device and make sure that unauthorized people cannot use the information.
Method 2: Android Lost
This is another great way to track Android phone if it is lost or stolen. Not only does the app work flawlessly, once you install it on your device, but it also lets you install it on your Android phone remotely, meaning that if your phone is already lost or stolen, and you haven’t installed the app as yet, then you don’t really need to worry because installing the app remotely is quite easy.
Download and install the Android Lost app on your Android smartphone. You can download it using the Google Play button below.
If you have your phone with you, then that’s great. However, if your phone is already lost or is stolen, you can install the app remotely through your PC via your Google account. Your device, however, will need to have internet access and should be logged in with your Google account.
Once the app is installed, simply launch it using your app drawer, and the app should automatically register with your Google account. If, however, the device has already been stolen or lost, you’ll need to send an SMS to your device with the words “androidlost register.” This should automatically register the app with your Google account remotely.
Now, you’ll need to use your PC in order to track your Android device. Open the Android Lost website on your PC and sign in with your Google ID and password. Once you sign in, you will be automatically connected to your Android device through Android Lost.
Once you are logged in, you will be able to the get the exact location of your Android device via GPS. Also, you will be able to perform additional features such as reading messages on your phone, ringing your phone, locking your device, wiping and erasing everything from your device and using the camera to take pictures.
Making sure that you are able to track Android phone if it gets lost or stolen is a smart thing to do. Just because it hasn’t happened to you yet doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. This is why you should keep your device ready just in case. You can even try installing spy software or turning your phone into a spy camera to see what other people are doing with your phone. It’s also important to install backup apps so you don’t lose information when your phone is stolen or lost.
