A Quick 5-step guide To Add Subtitles To MX Player
There are numerous video players available for Android and my personal favorite is MX Player, as the app lets you customize various different options while playing videos.
Do you think your phone’s default video player is good? Well, think again!
You should definitely give MX Player a try if you want some advanced features, such as adding subtitles.
While watching any movie, I usually like the picture to take up the entire screen which is why I don’t use subtitles often.
However, subtitles are necessary when you’re watching a movie that’s in a language you don’t know or if the movie has some bits and pieces in another language.
Who else wants to have subtitles while watching a movie?
In this post, I’ll show you how you can easily add subtitles to MX Player. This way, you’ll be able to enjoy all your favorite movies on your Android smartphone or tablet even if you don’t know the movie’s language.

Why Use Subtitles On Android?
Subtitles can be a great way to take your movie experience to the next level and here are the reasons why you should use them while watching movies.
- You can easily watch and understand foreign movies. Some people avoid watching movies if they don’t know the language and they can miss out on a really good movie.
- Several movies have small sections in other languages. For example, you might find a scene in French and a subtitle can be really useful for understanding these short scenes.
- Sometimes, audio isn’t really clear and it’s hard to understand certain actors. I’ve had this problem several times and in some movies, I just can’t understand what an actor is saying. Subtitles can be really helpful in these situations as well.
What’s more?
Having subtitles allows you to use every bit of your screen especially when you have one of the 16 Biggest Cellphones like the Samsung Galaxy S20+!
It’s exciting, right?
So what are we waiting for? Let’s get right into it!

The .srt file is the subtitle file, you dont need to open it. Simply place it in the same folder at the movie you are watching and MX Player will show it in the subtitle option. I just watched a movie last night. Hope this helps.
