  1. I have an Android 8″ Samsung galaxy tab s2 and it has fantastic resolution and is seamless with my phone intelligently remembering text input etc. It’s a 2016 model but by Jan 2019 when it was only 27 mths approx old I found certain services and apps were no longer developed to be optimised and I’ve ended up with orientation, playback and other usability issues. There’s nothing wrong with my tablet but certain services are dropping off as app developers (Inc browsers) tell me y Android O/S is out if date but Samsung stopped their upgrades to my devices. It’s built in obsolescence and normally a person hankers after the newest, planet raping, debit device. The rate at which technology is advancing is speeding up and its sad I have to dump a perfectly working tablet. I won’t do it.
One thing that was disappointing was the lack iof Android on my Fire HDX tablet so I switched to my Samsung tablet. Nobody had told me I could not get HD playback on my HD tablet with my Amazon Prime Video membership because although the galaxy ewas a high res, Amazon wouldnt allow it. Not even if I rented a movie and I’ve hot an HD tablet. Amazon aren’t the o ly ones who block HD. Sky TV using the SkyQ app has HD not quite as high spec as it could be. Mad customer service really. I just stopped renting movies for myself.
And Samsung no longer make a high spec tablet fur to costs and demand. People are happy to watch stuff on a large phone like the Samsung galaxy note. Or if needed at larger sizes just use a work monitor or have a laptop at home for easier tuping and split screening. I love my Samsung galaxy phone and tablet but I think there should be a way of recycling it at a competitive price. I’d pay for an upgrade for my Fire HDX tablet. That Fire HDX is the best res I’ve ever seen on a mini tablet and rivalled the iPad mini but the new HD tablets from Amazon are rubbish in comparison.
I think the 8 inch tablet is dyng out. And it’s sad. I don’t want to have to switch yo IOS iPsds though.

    1. Hi Erssie, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. it’s true. Tablets for consumers as a daily driver is dying out. What’s left are those that are intended for professional use.

  2. I own two tablets. First I bought Asus mediapad HD7, which was a great device for it’s time with great screen resolution, but it is 7” only and lucks LTE. After two years of use I decided to buy something better. So I tried all kinds of devices including sizes up to 12”. Then I found out that everything bigger than 8” is actually too big and not comfy to use. It is just not portable enough.
Then I found Huawei Mediapad M3 8.4”, which I own and use now daily. For me it is the perfect combination of screen resolution and size, has everything I need. Oh, it has an audio jack too. It is the same as Mediapad M5, but better ;).
This autumn my wife decided to buy for her a tablet for the time in bed, so we both searched the web just to find out that the choice is quite limited.
We ended with buying Amazon Fire 8 last generation. After only two hours in the web now this tablet has google play market.
So for me the market for a small 8” tablet is not dead.
If you look for a portable device this is the better compromise between size and portability.
Anything bigger is useless and can be replaced with a laptop size device.

    1. Haha, Gald to hear your opinion on this matter Nedko. And thanks for taking the time to read our blog post. I totally agree that the market for 8″ tablets is not dead. đŸ™‚

      1. Hi, according to Huawei by email, they confirmed that the M5 8 inch tablet is not sold in North America. So your link to Amazon is surprising since they sell a USED model. Now guess why Huawei is not selling over here¿
They sell only in Poland and Russia.
US wants to forbid Huawei 5G …….
        JJ

        1. @jj You can no longer buy Huawei electronics in the US because Huawei is banned from selling in the US. Blame the US government and their unsubstantiated claims.
