Nintendo is overprotective of their videogame properties and sometimes they don’t even make any sense. There are no official Pokemon games on Android, and it’s a shame. Nintendo can make boatloads of money just by releasing their best games on Android.
I’m willing to pay even 15 bucks just to get my hand on an official product. As you might have guessed from the name of the article, these games are almost Pokemon games on Android, but at the end of the day, they are still “almost” there.
The Google Play Store has a lot of games that are directly inspired by major video game franchise. Pokemon is kind of a big deal both in the East and West, so it’s no surprise that there are a lot of games that try to mimic it.
I’ll be honest; there are absolutely no games that capture the full experience of being a Pokemon trainer and running around fighting duels. I know, this is pretty disappointing if you were in the market for a full Pokemon game. However, if you absolutely must have a Pokemon game on your device, I recommend learning how to run Gameboy Advance Games on Android.
Note: The 5 almost Pokemon Games on Android were tested on a Samsung Galaxy Note III smartphone. The games worked fine, and no major bugs were faced during testing. These games have some elements of a full-on Pokémon game, but they will not be able to capture the full experience.
Monster Squad has some astounding gameplay mechanics that are extremely addictive. The gameplay is all battle and no exploration, which is a shame. However, the monsters are designed well and almost look like some of the Pokemon we love. If you pretend hard enough, you can even imagine the real Pokemon taking part in the fights.
The game is a turn-based fighting game with standard RPG mechanics. Nonetheless, there are over 500 monsters to collect and “train” over the course of the game. I found the game to be highly captivating, especially the monster fusion feature is insanely rewarding. You can mesh together two monsters and unlock new abilities, which is very awesome.Show Downloads
This game has some of the best-looking monsters around, some of them even surpass original Pokemon in cuteness and detail. The game comes with 150 base monsters that can be leveled up. However, I found that grinding for levels later in the game can be a bit hard.
The game allows you to run around different arenas and fighting other trainers. The game is 2D, but the 2.5D view of the battlefield really makes it stand out from the crowd. But, Bulu Monster comes with a unique feature that makes it a must have for any Pokemon fan, that is online multiplayer. You can easily challenge your friends or strangers in monster duels online.Show Downloads
Mino Monsters 2: Evolution
First off, I would like you to check out the introduction video on the Google Play Store. It is extremely well made and funny. I usually don’t like intro videos, but this one is like a small episode of the Pokemon anime. That being said, the same level of polish is seen in the game itself.
The monsters are well designed and follow a same visual aesthetic. If Pokemon was not the original, Mino Monsters 2 would have been a huge worldwide hit. There are more than 100 monsters in the game.
While the number may seem a little small, each of the monsters evolves into a higher form 2 times. The evolved/upgraded monsters actually show the progress visually. Some of the monsters turn badass from fragile creatures, and it is really satisfying.Show Downloads
Terra Monsters 2
This game is the closest you will get to the original games. It is a fine example of an almost Pokemon game on Android because it involves exploration as well as great combat. Many other games only focus on the combat aspect of the games while ignoring the exploration.
Terra Monsters 2 allows you to run around freely and have some freedom in making choices. It is not as robust as some of the best RPG Games on Android but hey, it is still better than straight up combat.
There are around 200 monsters you can collect and train. I didn’t like the overwhelming nature of the monster design, but some people love this detail. The epic evolutions featured in the game are truly impressive. If you want a game set in a Pokemon-like universe and actually explore it at your own pace, this is a game made for you.Show Downloads
Ever wanted to actually play as the Pokemon and not as the trainer? Minimon Masters allows you to do just that, there are a ton of amazing monsters to choose from and almost everyone comes with a great skillset. Imagine an ARPG like Diablo mashed together with Pokemon and you will have a general idea about this title.
I really loved the 3D graphics and fast-paced action of the game. It is a far cry from standard Pokemon games but I think it elevates the genre to do something new and unique. After playing the game, I wish Nintendo would make a full 3D Pokemon game with open world and amazing graphics.Show Downloads

Or we can install emulators and run the original games on our devices. Here is a handy guide to help you in playing Pokemon games on your Android.
