Doing business is not as easy as I first thought. Even though I’m a sleeping partner in a small games developer company, managing a few employees has been hard for a lazy guy like me. Thankfully there are some great business apps for Android that helped me in day-to-day tasks as well as in preplanning a lot of different things beforehand.
If you own a business, work for a business, or even manage certain tasks, you would know that it can be quite hectic and sometimes chaotic to handle all of that stuff. With a ton of information coming in and a lot of different decisions to make, doing business can be a hard career.
These great business apps for Android won’t be able to do business for you; the core will still be you. However, these apps will help streamline the whole process and help you become more effective at your job. To me personally, getting more time off for family and relaxation is always a plus and a few of these apps have certainly played an important part in making that happen.
Note: The 10 best business apps for Android were tested on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone. I have been regularly using some of the apps on the list in day-to-day life, and they have worked perfectly. While some of these apps are new to me as well, they all performed exceptionally, and there were no performance hitches during testing.
Some of the apps may require an active Internet connection to work properly. Due to the large difference in their nature, the apps are not in any particular order.
1. Google My Business
Google is the biggest search engine in the world. So, it’s extremely vital if you want to advertise your business in the modern age. One of the best tools to make people aware of your business is to display them on Google searches.
This app allows you to tell the world that you are open for business both on Google maps as well as Google search. With this app on your side, you’ll be easily able to verify your business information as well as manage customer reviews. That’s not all, though, Google will also provide you with important data regarding customer interaction that will help you build up your brand.
2. Business Insider
One of the first rules of doing business is to know the competition. By knowing what you are up against allows you to formulate new strategies as well as innovative ways to stand out from the crowd. Sure, a small business owner may not have to do this much to rake in the profits but if you own a large business, knowing everything is essential.
Business Insider is an app that provides you with a fast, convenient and free way to stay up-to-date with the latest news and analysis. 3. Business Calendar 2
Back when I was making the best calendar apps for Android list, I came across a good app that stood out from the crowd. And after a few months only, then app had a successor which was a pleasant surprise.
Business Calendar 2 is a great app that retains the usefulness and utility of its predecessor. One of the best things about this app is its month view which is very readable even when fully zoomed out. If you have a busy schedule, I highly recommend checking this easy to use a calendar to record all the important meetings.
I also like how intuitive the controls are, for example, if you want to copy a meeting to the next day, all you need to do is drag and drop. I prefer to use a slightly off-white background to my calendar apps because they make the text pop out, with 22 app themes that are available on this app you’ll be able to mix and match anything you want.
4. Business Card Maker
Business Card Maker has a pretty self-explanatory name. I went in expecting a complex and puzzling interface that allows you to create a business card but was pleasantly surprised to see it was quite the contrary. Achieving a professional look in this business card maker is extremely easy.
I had a lot of fun designing different business cards for myself and decided to keep a few of them handy just in case I needed to print them. There are three different templates for your cards available that are customizable to some extent. The templates are there for those who need a good looking card in no time at all. However, there is a fully fleshed out custom card maker that allows you to make some pretty decent looking cards.
5. Financial Calculators
If you are doing business in multiple currencies, then you might need a good currency converter app for Android. However, simply installing one currency converter won’t help you calculate loans, compound interests or even credit card payoffs. This is why I highly recommend Financial Calculators because it is like a Swiss knife of business calculation.
With a lot of different calculators bundled together, you’ll be able to have complete control over your finances. Don’t worry, despite having more than 10 calculators for different tasks, there is still a simple calculator in there. One thing I really like about this calculator is the tip calculator it comes with, especially if you’re in the US, it will be of great help.
If you own a business then you probably have more than one email account to manage. Even a small business owner has to juggle between social media accounts as well as business emails. And with the day-to-day hectic schedule, it becomes harder and harder to remember accounts as well as their different passwords.
I certainly have to reset an account simply because I have forgotten the login information each month. Thankfully, there are some great password manager for Android to help you out in this situation. LastPass is one of the best, reliable and trustworthy password manager apps out there. The interface is kept extremely simple and easy and you only have to remember one password to access all your accounts.
7. Google Allo
Right now the Google Assistant is only available on the latest Pixel smartphone. However, if you want that best personal assistant around on your own device, you need to install Google Allo. While this personal assistant was launched a very short while ago, it has certainly become my favorite assistant on Android.
Not only it’s extremely helpful but it is very friendly. Want to ask follow-up questions to a previous answer you got? You can do this with this assistant. I had a lot of fun testing this assistant out and I’m sure that you’ll have it doing a lot of heavy lifting for you in a short while.
If you own a business you probably own multiple social media accounts as well. Social media is very important in the success of your business these days and a well-maintained social media page will gain you customers in the long run.
But managing a business as well as social media aspect of a small business can be very hard. And not everyone can afford a social media manager. Thankfully, Buffer eases some of that pain for you. You can post on twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn all in one fell swoop.
The best part is, you can even schedule your posts to go up at a time that you want. Usually, people schedule posts for a week so that they don’t have to worry about an active social media until the weekend.
Managing a team is not a small task, ask our editor who has to juggle between competent writers as well as lazy testers (yours truly) day in and day out. Assigning tasks to different people and managing the timeframe is not an easy feat.
Trello aims to streamline the communication and make everything easier not only in the management but also on the workers as well. The card based system allows you to make different boards for various tasks that need to be achieved and then assign those cards to an employee. It’s a fairly simple drag and drop affair but does have a learning curve.
We have covered the social media aspect of business, but we have left out email from that. This is exactly why MailChimp is on the 10 best business apps for Android list. It is a great email campaign app that allows you to create marketing campaigns on your desktop and send them from your smartphone whenever you need to.
The only problem is, most of the grunt work can only be achieved on a desktop PC. However, if you have done the work, the mobile app makes it very easy to stay on top of your email marketing campaigns no matter where you are in the world. The best thing is, you’ll know the campaign’s status as soon as you launch it with the delivery insights. It is a great intuitive system for those who know how to use it but can be learned in a very short amount of time.
These were some of the best business apps for Android available on the Google play store right now. I have deliberately left out some of the popular apps from the list because there is a high chance you already know them.
