There are times in one’s life when they need to measure distance or length, and they don’t have any measuring tape at hand. This is where the best measuring apps for Android come into play, they may not be as accurate as any measuring tape but, they will give you a general idea of the length or distance.
Right off the bat, I’m going to be blunt and say that these apps are not meant to replace your actual tools. So, use these apps when you need a general idea of the distance or length of something and use actual tools for accurate measurements. You won’t be building a new house using Android just yet.
If you are into Android apps, then you should definitely checkout our Apps page to try out some cool new Apps.
Now that we have established that these apps won’t be replacing measuring tools, they are surprisingly accurate. I completely understand that there are limitations in place when it comes to the technology being used in smartphones these days.
Until manufacturers actually introduce a measuring laser or something in smartphones, they won’t be able to measure anything precisely. That is exactly why these apps are actually quite impressive when you think of how close they can get in optimal conditions.
Best Measuring Apps for Android
Note: The 5 best measuring apps for Android were tested on a Lenovo K8 Note. The apps worked fine, and no problems were faced during testing. I have to remind you that these apps are not accurate at all so, they shouldn’t be used for any professional work.

GPS Fields Area Measure
This is one of the most incredible apps on the best measuring apps for Android list because it uses existing technology in an effective way. As the name might have given it away, this app allows you to measure area by using GPS data. All you need to do is run this app, then select your starting and ending points
In order to measure an area simply make a loop. The only downside is, as the app is using GPS data, it won’t be able to measure small areas.
So, if you are a farmer and want to measure your field, this is the right app for the job. With global positioning services becoming more and more accurate, there will be a time when this app will accurately measure your every step.Show Downloads

Ruler is one of those apps that is so simple that it’s ridiculous but in a very good way. At first, I was thinking that this app will probably take a photo and tell us the length of a line or something but then I actually read the description and was pleasantly surprised.
I’m always caught up in how technology can improve our day-to-day lives that I forgot that an actual ruler can exist on a virtual screen. This is exactly what this app provides: it shows a ruler with accurate markings right on the screen.
Place your smartphone down and if it or it’s case has a straight line, you can use your device as a straight edge. That is all there is to the app and it’s so ridiculously simple that I had to include it on the list.Show Downloads

ImageMeter allows you to take measurements on an existing image. Unlike other apps on the list, this is not a real-time measurement tool, it uses photos to do all of its measurements.
While it would be pretty cool to get accurate measurements just from a photo, it would be nearly impossible for a normal camera to capture any kind of usable data. This is exactly why you need some kind of reference to make other measurements off.
For example, if you know the height of the ceiling and the length of the room, you can easily place a reference graph on an image and map out an accurate window using this app. The app automatically compensates measurements and angles for possible perspective distortions.Show Downloads
This app uses your main camera to gauge the distance between objects and height of an object. Basically, you turn on the app, the camera will turn on and the detection process will begin.
All you need to do is press the distance button to gauge the distance between the camera and the object. The app will then try to guesstimate the distance between you and the subject. If you want the height of the scanned object, all you need to do is to point at the bottom, tap at the height button and press once more at the top.
While this may seem a lot of fancy stuff, in reality, the app is as accurate as your own guess. I think this is a neat app that can be further polished by improving technology, but for now, I would recommend using a measuring tape.Show Downloads
EasyMeasure is a measuring app that can measure the object’s distance from the user in addition to measuring its dimension. It works by just aiming your camera lens at the object under study.
The calculation is done with several factors in mind, such as the height of the camera and the tilt of your smartphone. That said, you must ensure that the phone camera is set on the correct height, angle, and tilt. For instance, if you hold the camera at your eye level, it automatically detects that the height is 4 inches lesser than your actual height.
Once you have decided which object to measure, you must adjust the box on the measuring app screen in order to fit the object. After that, the measurement details will flash on the display and you’re done!Show Downloads
