6 Best Toshiba Tablets for Android: Save a Buck for The Best

I feel like all Toshiba tablets for Android usually take a backseat in the discussion behind companies like Samsung and Apple. The only problem with this is that you can usually get pretty much the same tablet, but for a much cheaper price if you go with Toshiba.

This isn’t always the case, but when you plan on looking for a tablet, make sure you don’t leave Toshiba out of the conversation. I used to have a Toshiba tablet, and not only was it a better conversation starter, because all of my friends had iPads and Samsung devices, but I paid a lot less than they did for their tablets.

Let’s take a look at the best Toshiba tablets for Android so you can save a little cash on your purchase while still receiving all the must-have functionality you would find on just about any tablet device.

1. Toshiba Excite Go: $69.99

Toshiba Excite Go

The Ultimate Value

The Toshiba Excite Go is everything you want and more when it comes to a tablet. Not only does the price range get me going from the start, but you also receive a fairly sleek device, with nice storage options and a decent processor.

I’m a fan of 7 inch displays, since it makes me feel like I am holding an actual book when reading on my tablet. Keep in mind that the operating system takes up about half of the local storage, so this is a major downside. You may have to buy an SD card to improve the storage.

Why should you buy it?

  1. You get 1 GB RAM Memory for storing all your files
  2. Comes with a 1.33 GHz Processor
  3. The 7 inch display has a high resolution and fits in your hand nicely

2. Toshiba Encore 2: $159.99

Toshiba Encore 2

An Extra Inch for Those Movies

The Toshiba Encore 2 is another one of the options from Toshiba that makes your purchase a little more affordable. They add an extra inch to make it a little over 8 inches, so watching movies is rather nice. Keep in mind that although we typically cover Android devices, this comes with the Windows operating system.

In fact, most of the Toshiba tablets come with Windows operating systems, but you can always root your device to put an Android OS on it.

Why should you buy it?

  1. Has a 2GB RAM
  2. The Intel Atom Z3735F Processor is nice for multitasking
  3. It has a front and rear camera

3. Toshiba Thrive: $139.99

Toshiba Thrive

An Interesting Design for a Nice Price

The Toshiba Thrive is probably my favorite tablet on this list, because the screen is 10.1 inches, and the design is slightly more unique than some of the other Toshiba options.

You’ll notice a little silver lining around the front camera, which gives the device some contrast. The internal memory and cameras are some of the best you can find for such a low price. It even has a rubber back plate so that you don’t drop the tablet when holding on to it.

Why should you buy it?

  1. A front and rear camera
  2. It has 16 GB internal memory
  3. Comes with mini USB ports, a HDMI port and an SC card reader for the ultimate storage

4. Toshiba Encore Mini: $105.00

Toshiba Encore Mini

Small, but Not That Small

I never understood mini devices, since they all typically come out at 7 inches, when half of the tablets on the market are also 7 inches, and they aren’t considered “mini.”

The Toshiba Encore Mini is another one of those 7 inch tablets, and it has a nice price tag, but the specs aren’t the best on the market. It’s worth a shot if you really want a smaller tablet, but the price difference from the larger devices isn’t that great.

You’ll also notice that it comes with a Windows OS, so you need to root the tablet if you want Android.

Why should you buy it?

  1. The touchscreen is very bright and wide for watching movies
  2. Has a slim and ergonomic design
  3. The battery is quite power efficient

5. Toshiba Encore: $224.88

Toshiba Encore

Older, but Worth a Shot

The Toshiba Encore is the first generation in the Encore line, and although I really wouldn’t recommend it, you might be able to find a cheaper option if you buy a refurbished or used one. It has everything you would need, but remember it’s a watered down version of the Encore 2.

Don’t buy this unless you can do a little research online and truly find something that offers significant savings, which you might as well do during your search. If you want the barebones for reading books or something like that, go for it.

Why should you buy it?

  1. Comes with Windows OS, but you can root it for Android
  2. Has an Ambient Light Sensor and Gyroscope
  3. The battery lasts for 14 hours

6. Toshiba Encore 2 Write: $399.99

Toshiba Encore 2 Write

Feature-Rich, but a Tad Pricey

The Toshiba Encore 2 Write would be my favorite option on the list, if it weren’t for the hefty price tag. You get a sleek design with a huge screen along with a stylus to jot down your notes or draw some images.

Once again, the device comes with a Windows OS, but you can always root the tablet to put Android on it.

Why should you buy it?

  1. Has a 1.33 GHz Quad Core Processor for nice multitasking
  2. Th 64 GB Flash Memory is one of the best on the market
  3. Provides HD graphics

Conclusion

Although not all the Toshiba tablets for Android have the best price tags, you can certainly do a little research to put some cash back in your pocket. I don’t like the Windows operating system, so I would consider buying one of the cheaper Toshiba tablets and rooting it to put the Android OS on it.
