VPN apps are fast becoming a basic need of the day. With internet censoring and area specific content availability, it has become harder to live without VPN apps for Android. Most people I know use these services to legally access Netflix in their countries. They even pay the charges for the access but alas either the company is not operating in their region or the content they want is area locked.
One would think that in this day and age, content would be laid out in the open for all to see and share. But unfortunately that is not the case anymore. Thankfully we have great VPN apps for Android to keep us entertained on boring nights.
Note: The great VPN Apps for Android were tested on a Samsung Galaxy Note III smartphone. YouTube is banned in my country for some reason and I accessed it using a number of apps. These were the ones which provided a quality service without charging exorbitant fees. I’m OK with paying a couple of dollars a month to get a quality service but I know not many people can afford to do that. This list will have the best free VPN apps for Android to install and enjoy.
Great interface? Check, good quality steaming? Check, free with no bandwidth restrictions? Check and check. This is what VPN Master provides. Although it took its sweet time to connect to a server, the quality of the service was amazing. Especially if you consider I was not paying a single dime.
One of the best things about this VPN app is that you don’t need to register to get access to the VPN service. There are also quite a few servers available for you to choose from. All in all the internet speed on this VPN was better than the 20 or so VPN services I tested.Show Downloads
This is one slick looking VPN app for Android. The interface is clean…almost too clean in my opinion. But that is a great thing because we don’t need clutter on our apps right? The app allows you to connect to some different free servers.
With a push of a button you will be connected to the server. I was really surprised how fast the connection went through. The video streaming quality was also great. The only downside is that the app will disconnect you after one hour of usage.Show Downloads
Fast Secure VPN
Fast Secure VPN is actually very fast and somewhat secure. The app connected to the server exactly 3 seconds after I pressed the button. I might add, I was not paying them anything for the service. However the data didn’t start coming until the 10 second mark which was a little odd to me.
Regardless those are some really impressive numbers in my book, especially for a free VPN app. The interface could use a little improvement though.Show Downloads
This Android VPN app encrypts incoming as well as outgoing data. This app is perfect if you are concerned about your privacy and want to keep your location a secret. The app can also potentially keep you safe from tracking or hacking.
The app also mentions that it can unblock YouTube, Facebook, Google, Netflix and Twitter, which is reassuring. It can also unblock Voice over IP services like Skype and Viber.Show Downloads
One of the most popular VPN apps for Android, Hotspot Shield has certainly earned its name. The VPN service has been online for many years now and has seen numerous updates and changes. The latest iteration of the app performs better than the last one I remember.
There are fewer full screen ads too which is relief. To be honest I was not even going to mention it in the list because of my previous sour experience. Thankfully I tested it again to find it refreshingly fast and reliable.
The interface is almost clean and the connection is stable. There is also no restriction on bandwidth but I found the app throttling the data after a while.Show Downloads
Video streaming is one of the biggest reasons why people use VPN services. Chances are you are here because you want to watch an episode of Game of Thrones yourself. This is exactly why I tested the apps on their video streaming capabilities.
All these good VPN apps for Android stream quality videos without restriction. Sure there are a lot more where these came from but either they were unstable or failed to unlock YouTube for me. If you have a better app in mind, do share in the comments below.
