There are a lot of grocery apps available on the Google play store but not all of them have the necessary features to help you eat healthy food. And there are a lot of cooking apps booming on the play store as well, but not all of them help you shop for groceries. Thankfully, I have curated a list of grocery apps designed to make you eat better that not only have the recipes but also the convenience of making a quick grocery list out of them.
Imagine you’re browsing a pretty delicious recipe that you want to make yourself, instead of jotting down all the ingredients to a separate app or taking a screenshot of it, you can easily tap on a single button and make a shopping list. This way you’ll have each and every ingredient listed and you don’t have to fiddle with the cooking app again and again to track down the ingredients. While this may seem like a small feature but it does come in handy when you’re trying to eat better and healthy. Combine these apps with the best calorie counter apps as well as the best Fitness apps on Android and you’ll have a healthy lifestyle locked down. After that all you need is a trusty running app for Android or an exercise app to burn the excess calories.
Note: The grocery apps designed to make you eat better were tested on a Sony Xperia Z smartphone. All the apps worked fine and no problems were faced during testing. Some apps may require an Internet connection to provide full features.
Yummly is one of the best cooking apps for Android and it ranked really high on our list as well. From the well-polished interface to easy to access recipes, the app offers a lot for everyone. Either you are a vegetarian or prefer meet, there are recipes for a lot of different lifestyles. There are over 1 million recipes available on this app and all of them come with beautiful pictures so you can easily visualize the end results. Adding entire recipes to your grocery shopping list is easy as pressing one button. I also really like how the app automatically categorizes the shopping list by aisles and recipes, so you don’t have to run around the grocery store like a food focused Indiana Jones. You can also save your favorite recipes and add them again to the grocery list for the next visit with ease. Overall, I highly recommend this app for those who want to start eating healthy and better.
2. Allrecipes Dinner Spinner
If you are going to use a grocery app designed to make you eat better on multiple platforms, Allrecipes is your best option. The streamlined design of the app allows you to access recipes across your tablet, phone and even PC. There are over 30 million home cooks that have contributed to the app and made it a lot better. You can browse through a lot of different recipes with ease and tap on the little hand to favorite them. Or you can tap on the thumbnail to access the recipe and instructions. After you are satisfied with your selection, you can easily add entire recipes or ingredients to the shopping list. This makes the entire process painless and allows you to go shopping straight away. You can also share recipes with your significant other, so that they can add the ingredients on their own shopping list and get the groceries on the way back home.
Cookpad is my personal favorite app for looking at recipes. I love details in the recipes because I’m afraid the lack of them will make something explode in the kitchen and Cookpad delivers on them with consistency. This is one of the best places to share and find recipes made by other users just like you. However, there is no dedicated grocery shopping feature built into the app and that can be bit of a problem. You can easily open the recipe and check out the ingredients though, which may not be ideal but it does save you the headache of making a separate list. I highly recommend this app to those young adults who want to learn the family recipes from grandma or mom, simply ask them about the prices, make your own recipe and access it whenever you want. You can even save pictures of the pasta your aunt makes and publish it for the world to enjoy.
With a nice, clean material design, BigOven is one of the best grocery apps designed to make you eat better. Well, technically it’s a cooking app that comes with a grocery list but then again, if it gets the job done, who cares. The app tries to make cooking social and to a certain extent it works. There are more than 350,000 recipes available for you to read and make. You can even see what your friends and family are cooking and get inspiration from healthy cooks. Searching is also streamlined and easy. With this app on your side, you’ll be able to make a shared grocery list for all the members of the family to see. You can also sort items according to the recipe or department, and once you are in the store shopping, you can just as easily mark them off by swiping.
5. Cookbook Recipes
Cookbook Recipes takes the cake when it comes to displaying beautiful pictures of food. I never knew that a simple fried egg could look so glorious. From recipes for every event to collecting and saving recipes you like, the app can do almost everything you would want from a cooking app. But that’s not why the app is here, it’s because how easy and fast it is to pull up recipes. There is even a great meal planner with grocery list in the app. By using that feature you can easily add healthy recipes to your monthly food calendar. This helps the app in adding the ingredients to the shopping list automatically. This is actually a great feature because most people like to go grocery shopping for the week and not just one meal.
These were a few grocery apps designed to make you eat better or the best cooking apps with grocery lists, however you may want to see it. Regardless, if you consider them cooking apps or grocery apps, I hope they will make you start eating better and living a fun, healthy life.
