How to cancel Spotify Premium on Android
Do you find paying monthly for Spotify Premium expensive? Or do you prefer its alternatives? In any case, I got confused when I tried to cancel my account on Spotify, so I made a quick guide on how to cancel Spotify on Android.
Spotify is one of the best music streaming apps that give you access to millions of songs for free (Although with limitations). They also have an ad-free, play-on-demand subscription where you can download music for offline streaming. However, some find paying for the premium account costly. If that’s the case, or if you’re leaning towards other music platforms such as Tidal and YouTube Music, check out how I canceled and closed my account!
Note: After you downgrade your account to Spotify Free, you will lose access to offline streaming. Also, you can no longer stream audio on higher bit-rates or play them on-demand on the mobile app. Instead, you have to shuffle playlists, artists, or albums to play music.
Canceling your Spotify Premium account on Android
Note: If you have already deleted the Spotify app on your phone, open your mobile web browser, log in to the Spotify website, navigate to the accounts tab, and proceed to step 3.
Step 1: Open the Spotify app and go to Settings
Tap the gear icon on the upper right portion of the screen.
Step 2: Navigate to the Accounts Tab
Under the Premium Account Settings, tap “VIEW OTHER PLANS” to open the accounts page on your mobile web browser.
Step 3: Cancel your account
Scroll down and look for the “CANCEL PREMIUM” button. Tap it and confirm your decision.
Check your inbox for an email from Spotify that confirms the cancelation of your paid subscription.
Now, you’ve done all the necessary steps to downgrade your Spotify Premium account.
Deleting your Spotify account completely
Even if you cancel your premium subscription, you still have the choice to keep your Spotify account for free music streaming. However, you can also permanently delete your account.
Step 1: Log-in to Spotify on your browser
To close your account, log in to Spotify on your mobile browser and make sure that you’re on Spotify Free.
Step 2: Open Spotify’s contact form
Open the Spotify contact form by navigating to Help > Account Help > “Close your account.”
Step 3: Close your account
Finally, choose “CLOSE ACCOUNT” and follow the next set of instructions. Check your latest email from Spotify and confirm your decision.

To enjoy ad-free listening and unlimited streaming, you need to pay 9.99 US Dollars a month or 4.99 US Dollars if you’re a student. Sometimes it’s cheaper depending on the country where you live.
