How to Change Country on Play Store: Your Complete Guide

Sometimes you need to download an Android App from the Google Play Store, but it doesn’t work because the app isn’t available in your country. The best thing to do here is to change the country on the Play Store, so you can download the app to your device.

But how do you change the country in the Play Store in the first place? You use any of the following four methods, of course!

Note: After you change the country, you need to update all your payment settings; Google uses your billing address as the basis for assigning your home country to gain access to the Play Store. Just have one valid payment method ready, and you will not have any problem.

Method 1: Change Google Play Store Country Using Paid App

If you want to change Country on Play Store, you can do this using a paid app. You can just pretend to buy a paid app, follow the steps carefully, and successfully download your desired app.

Step 1.

Open Google Play Store on your digital device, whether that is a tablet, an Android Phone, or a computer.

In the Google Play Store, pretend like you will purchase a paid app. In fact, you can choose any paid app.

Step 3.

On the screen that follows, push Continue until you get to see the Payment methods screen. Remember not to proceed with payment. Just close the Google Play Store.

Step 4.

Open the Settings app on the same device.

Step 5.

Choose Applications on the Settings screen.

Step 6.

Tap on Application Manager on the next screen (the Applications screen).

Step 7.

Tap on Google Play Store on the screen that follows.

Step 8.

On the next screen, tap on the Clear Data (or Clear Cache) button first, and then tap on the Force Stop button. Sometimes, this is the Quit button.

Step 9.

Open the Google Play Store on your device and tap on the Accept button if they ask you to Accept Google Play Terms of Service.

Method 2: Change Country on Play Store Using VPN

If you want to change the country on the Play Store, you can also utilize a VPN service. This is a useful method if you haven’t moved to a new country, but you want to download an app that isn’t available for your country.

Step 1.

Open the Google Play Store on your Android Phone and proceed with the installation of the Turbo VPN app, or any VPN app that you desire to install and use.

Once you finish downloading the app, open it on your device.

Step 3.

As soon as the app opens, look for the world icon on the top right corner and tap on it.

Check out the next screen and choose the country from the dropdown list. Tap on the country that you want to set your Google Play Store too.

If your country does not appear on the list, then you might need Express VPN app on your device. Express VPN is available for more countries.

Step 5.

On the next screen, tap on OK and wait until your App has established a VPN connection.

One of the VPN connection has been established, open Google Play Store on your device and follow the directions in Method 1.

Method 3: Change Country on Play Store With a Credit Card

This method is useful if you have a valid credit card or other payment method accepted by the Play Store with an address in the country that you want to change to. The central concept here is to update your address so that you can be allowed to change your country.

Step 1.

Update your Address in Google Payments. First, you need to open the Google Play Store on your device.

Step 2.

Next, tap on the icon from the top left corner so that you can see a drop-down menu.

Choose Account, then choose Payment methods.

Step 4.

Add your current credit card to this option if you do not have any payment method yet.

Step 5.

When you reach the next screen, find the More Payment Settings tab and tap on it.

On the following screen where you can see the Google Payment Center, sign into your original Google Account.

Step 7.

After doing so, tap once again on the three-line icon on the top left corner of your Payments Center screen.

Tap on Settings along the slide-over menu.

Once you are on the Settings screen, tap on the pencil icon right next to Country. Then choose your new country.

Step 10.

As soon as a Pop-up comes out, click on Got It.

Step 11.

Next, type your New Address and save this information by tapping on Save. In case it says error, then quit Google Play Store and perform the same steps all over again. Still, if there is an error, use a different device and perform the same steps.

Method 4: Change Country in Play Store Using Google Wallet

If the methods above do not work, then you can still use Google Wallet.

Step 1.

Open your browser. Proceed to Google Wallet.

Step 2.

Proceed to Settings. Type in a new home address.

Step 3.

As you have removed the old address, proceed to the Address Book Tab. You can see your old address there. Delete that address.

When you see a prompt window that opens after you remove your old address, click on Accept when asked to accept terms and conditions which are specific for the new country.

Step 5.

Using your Android device, go to the App menu and tap on the Settings icon.

Step 6.

Proceed to Apps. Locate the Google Play Store App. Then tap on Clear Data or Clear Cache. After doing this, you will now see Google Play Store matching your default country.

Click on Clear Data and Force Stop on the screen that follows.

Step 8.

Open Google Play Store again and click Accept when asked about the Terms and Conditions.
