There are three ways you can crop a video on Android. 

1. From phone gallery
2. Using a third-party app
3. Using an online video editor

1. Crop a video on Android from phone Gallery

Not every Android phone supports this feature. Android smartphone brands like OnePlus, Redmi and Samsung offer the video crop feature in the Gallery app. 

Crop video on Samsung, OnePlus, and Nokia

To crop a video on a Samsung device, 

Step 1: Open the Gallery app

Step 2: Select the video you would like to crop

Step 3: Tap on the Edit button 

Step 4: Tap on Crop

Step 5: Crop the video by dragging your finger across the screen

Step 6: Tap on Save copy once you finish editing

Note: This feature is not available on all the Samsung, OnePlus, and Nokia smartphones. For this articles, I’ve tested Samsung Galaxy S21, OnePlus 8 Pro, and Nokia 5.3.

Crop video on Redmi

Redmi phones don’t come with the free-hand crop feature. Instead, you can change the video fit by changing the aspect-ratio. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Open the Gallery app

Step 2: Open the video you would like to edit

Step 3: Tap on the Edit button 

Step 4: Tap on Aspect ratio

Step 5: Select the aspect ratio you want for the video

Step 6: Tap ✓ to save the video

2. Use a third-party app

It is much simpler than using a third-party app without bothering your phone’s storage. I have been using ezgif for the same as it makes video cropping seamless. Don’t go by its name: it may sound as “easy GIF” but it offers amazing features for playing around with videos as well. Follow these steps to crop a video on ezgif:

Step 1: Go to https://ezgif.com/crop-video

Step 2: Tap on Choose file 

Step 3: Select the video you would like to crop

Step 4: Tap on Upload video

Step 5: Tap on crop video 

Step 6: Select the area you want to be visible in the video

Step 7: Nex, tap on the ‘Crop video!’ button

Step 8: The cropped video will appear next. Tap on Save to save the video on your device.
