How to Get Paid Android Apps for Free: Your Wallet Needs Help

Your friend at work told you about the most recent new app to help you sleep better at night, or your old friend from school posted on Facebook on how they can’t get enough of a sweet new first person shooter on Android.

You settle into your bed for the night and open up the Google Play store to checkout these new recommendations. The first app is on sale for $15 and you realize that the first person shooter is filled with in-app purchases, making it somewhat pricey for your budget.

We receive recommendations for cool apps all of the time, so it’s unrealistic to pay money for every one of the apps, since you just want to test them out and see which ones are worth keeping. Localytics states that one in four apps are downloaded, and then deleted shortly after.

What does this mean for the average user? It means that every fourth app you pay for is a huge waste of money. Learn how to get paid Android apps for free to take some stress off of your wallet.

Sure you can just stick with free apps or use a gift card, but sometimes you really want to try out the hottest new paid apps. Let’s explore the best options for finding free apps to test and share. There are ways to do this illegally, but we don’t condone this, and frankly, there’s no reason to illegally download an app, because there are several ways to get them free and legally.

Method 1: The Amazon App of the Day – Cool Apps for Free

This one is quite simply the best way to get paid Android apps for free, since it runs through Amazon and you don’t have to give away any of your information to get the apps. You also don’t have to mess around with annoying surveys. Just grab the free app everyday and go on with your day.

Step 1

If you don’t already have an Amazon account, create one here.

Step 2

The Amazon App Store is not available on the Google Play store, so you have to download it here. It’s the best way to get the free app directly to your phone. You can see the instructions for downloading the Amazon App store to your phone in the screenshot below.

Step 3

Open the Amazon App Store everyday to see which paid app is being offered for free on Android. The apps are only available for 24 hours, so if you see one you like be sure to grab it right away.

Method 2: Google Opinion Rewards – Giving Your Thoughts for Free Apps

This is one of the official methods offered through Google to find some paid apps that are offered for free. The catch? You must walk through surveys and random questions to receive Google Play credits in exchange.

This is all fine and dandy in theory, and it actually works quite seamlessly when you receive a survey, but the surveys don’t come that often.

However, if you don’t purchase that many apps then this helps for that occasional app you want to pay for. You also want to keep in mind that the information you punch in is being shared and used for profit, so privacy might be an issue.

I personally think surveys are a waste of time, but I know plenty of friends who use this save some money.

Step 1

Download the Google Opinion Rewards app from the button below.

Step 2

Fill in a few personal questions on the app and then wait around for notifications to come for surveys you can potentially work on. Once you get a notification, walk through the survey and hopefully you get some credits.

This is another downside. Sometimes you don’t get paid because they found you weren’t right for the survey.

Step 3

Once you complete enough surveys you can look at your balance and then click on the Shop button to use the credits. This brings you to the Google Play store to spend your credits. That’s it!

  1. The free apps of the day on Android seem to primarily be games, and games don’t interest me at all. I never saw anything there for free that wasn’t worth just that much.

    1. It may be so rude to expect all apps for free. Also we do not want to advice you that is something illegal or hurting developers.

    1. Hey, Joe! Your rewards go straight to your Google account where hey can be used for in app purchases, as well as purchases from the Google Play store. When you get to the purchase screen it will include a prompt asking whether you want to apply your existing balance. All you have to do is make sure that’s selected and tap “buy.” Enjoy your rewards!
