How to silence an Android phone:
Method 1: Toggle ‘Do Not Disturb’ on Android
Step 1: Swipe from the top of your screen
One way to silence your phone is to toggle on Do Not Disturb. Start by swiping from the top of your screen.
Step 2: Press on ‘Do not disturb’
Remember, this mode mutes sound, notifications, stops vibration, and blocks visual disturbances.
Method 2: Turn on ‘Do not disturb’ from the phone Settings
Step 1: Go to your phone’s Settings
Step 2: Scroll down and select Sounds and Vibration
Step 3: Turn on ‘Do not disturb’

To silence some Android phones, you will have to turn on ‘Silent mode’ –– here’s how!
Step 1: Go to Settings
Step 2: Select Sounds & Vibrations
Step 3: Turn on ‘Silent mode’
Manually add emergency contacts
First thing’s first, you will need to manually add emergency numbers into your phone. Everytime these contacts call you, your phone will still ring even if your device is on silent mode.
Step 1: Go to your ‘Phone’ app
Step 2: Head over to the ‘Contacts’ section
Step 3: Select the contacts that you want to ring even on silent mode
Step 4: Then, tap the star on the top right corner
How to make a contact ring on a silent Android phone:
Now that you have set emergency contacts, you can proceed to manually allow your phone to ring on these specific contacts –– even on silent mode.
Step 1: Go to your phone’s Settings
Step 2: Select ‘Set Do Not Disturb rules’
Step 3: Choose ‘Priority only allows’
Step 4: Tap on ‘From starred contacts only’
You can find this option in the ‘Call’ section.
Not only that, but you can also allow messages from these people to reach you. Follow the steps 1-3 above, then:
