If you’ve just made the switch over from iOS, it can be confusing when you’re first getting to grips with a new handset.
Rebooting a device is only easy if you know how. We’ve prepared a quick guide just in case you need to find out how to reboot your Samsung Galaxy S5. Here’s a couple of methods along with a bit of relevant information.
(If you want to reset your Samsung Galaxy S5, we have a guide with five methods so you can completely wipe your device and start from scratch.)
Method 1: Perform a Soft Reset
A soft reset is a sure-fire way to turn your device off, and it’s easy to restart the phone afterwards.
To perform a soft reset;
Step 1: Turn the device over, and locate the battery cover release slot.
Step 2: Lift the cover and remove the battery from the S5.
Step 3: Wait 10 seconds before you reinsert the battery.
Step 4: Insert the battery and replace the cover.
Step 5: Insert the battery and replace the cover.
Step 6: You can now press the Power button to restart your device.
Method 2: Button Combinations
If you have a case for your S5, it can be annoying to have to take it off every time you want to remove the battery.
Luckily, there’s an easier option that involves using a combination of buttons.
To reboot your device using the buttons;
Step 1: Hold the Power button along with Volume Down for a few seconds.
Step 2: That should bring up a menu on your screen. From here, select Restart, which is the blue icon.
Step 3: Your device should now restart, which can be handy if it freezes frequently.
(Holding down this button combination should also cause the device to reset if the screen is completely frozen.)
If you want to find out how to fully reset your S5, check our guide with five methods to choose from, but be sure to check our guide to backing up the device first. Sometimes it’s easier to start again instead of constantly restarting the device at every opportunity.
