Here’s a list of fun ideas for names you can use, as well as images of some of the best we found on the internet.
Most people make do with the garbled mix of letters and numbers automatically assigned as their Wi-Fi name, but you can always personalize yours with something that will make it stand out from the crowd.
If you want a better Wi-Fi service, here’s a list of the best Android Wi-Fi apps.
1. Joke Names (Puns, Wordplay, Jokes, References)
Joke names are often the most popular choice, and there are so many to choose from. If you’re struggling to think of one yourself, you can always reference your favorite TV show, or have a look online if you want to borrow an idea.
These names always bring a smile to my face, so it’s likely that there will always be somebody who will appreciate your comedic attempts. (Even if it’s just you.)
2. Personal Names
You can enter a personal name if you want to be sentimental, although it’s also a great way to easily recognize your connection easily from the list.
It’s not the most fun you can have, but as long as you don’t give away your password, it can be anything you’d like it to be. Of course, you can be personal in more ways than one;
It’s up to you to decide.
3. Messages for Neighbors
You could leave a funny message for your neighbors to see, or you might be able to respond to their personalized name directly.
If you’re having trouble with somebody in your neighborhood, it’s also a great (passive-aggressive) tactic to let them know that somebody isn’t too happy with their behavior.
Or how about this one?
However, names like Fort Knox and Don’t Hack Me are generally asking for trouble, as it’s an open challenge to anybody with the skills to pay the bills. (Unless you’re planning on giving out free Wi-Fi, and named your connection ironically.)
(Then again, it’s usually a good idea to try and get along with people you usually have to see day to day, so don’t be too rude!) It’s probably best to leave it playful if you can.
If you’re feeling mischievous, you could always try and trick your neighbours and passers-by in a number of ways. If you live near a restaurant, you could name your connection Restaurant Free Wi-Fi, to troll customers wondering why there’s a padlock on the free service.
Then again, it’s completely down to what you think is funny;
Another good idea would be to call your connection searching, to confuse people who are, well, searching for a Wi-Fi connection.
Here are a few extras that we just couldn’t leave out;
With your new name, you’ll be the Lord of the Pings. (Sorry.)
You’re only limited by your imagination, (oh, and the character limit on your phone or router) so it’s down to you to decide on which name is right for you. It’s also worth noting that names like these will draw attention to your connection by design, so be careful if you run into any issues with your connection or service after changing it.
