Ever since I got my Android smartphone, I haven’t used a lot of ringtones because I couldn’t find the ones that suit my peculiar taste.
This level of customization allows you to cut and use the best part of any song you like. For example, a piano solo can be made into a dedicated ringtone.
One of the best things about this ringtone app for Android is the app makes it easier to select the part of the MP3 you need for the ringtone. The simple drag and drop mechanics of the app helps you determine the precise length of the tracks.
The interface is simple and very easy to use. MP3 Cutter and Ringtone Maker saves the ringtones relatively quick too. There is no limit on how many ringtones you can make with this app.
While the interface is very practical, the app could definitely use improvements. The interface looks a bit outdated when compared with apps released more recently.
Don’t get me wrong though, the app works just fine even with the clunky interface. There are ads in the app though, and they can be a bit distracting sometimes. But that’s the only downside of using a free app of this caliber.
The Bottom Line
Have you ever heard a song and just thought, man, this would make an epic ringtone? Quickly making ringtones is precisely the problem the developers of this app try to solve. With this ringtone making app for Android, the possibilities are endless. The simple cutting mechanics make this a very easy-to-use app. The only problem here is the app can only process MP3 files.
The First Boot
Getting the app is straightforward. Go to the Google play store page and tap on the Install button. The app is extremely in small size and will take only a few moments to download. In my opinion, you can even use mobile data to get the app on your Android smartphone.
There is no welcome screen on MP3 Cutter and Ringtone Maker. Thankfully the app does come to your aid when you’re cutting MP3 files.
I would have preferred to at least have a tutorial screen as a welcome. But because the app is so simple, there’s not an immense need of that.
The app has a half-baked design. The text, the buttons, and even the color scheme are inconsistent. Some of the items on the app, especially the save button, are of low quality. While the quality of the design doesn’t exactly affect how the app works, it does look a bit unprofessional.
The premise of the app is simple; select an MP3, choose the part you need and take it. The interface on song/music selection is in need of improvement too.
There is a search button that can help you find the track you need. Categories are not part of the search though. It would have been better if the app somehow sorted the songs and music.
The process of extracting a particular part of a track is easy to do. The ease of use is why I have included this app in the best ringtone apps for Android list.
Search for the song in your library and tap on it when you find it in the list. The app will take you to a new screen.
As you can see above, the app does offer some information about the mechanics. And quite frankly, this is all you will need. After you dismiss the hint screen, you are taken to the song so you can start making your ringtone.
On the selection screen, you will be able to choose the precise part of the MP3 you wish to cut. This free Android ringtone app uses simple dragging motions for the selection.
Tap one selection bar and move it horizontally until you reach the desired point. The best part is, the app will play the selection in real time. This method of selection gives you an accurate idea of the results.
MP3 Cutter and Ringtone Maker retains the quality of the original track. I was worried the app would degrade the quality in order to reduce the size of the ringtone. Fortunately, this is not the case and the ringtone sounded exactly like the original MP3 track.
I would, however, recommend that you use high-quality MP3 tracks to make ringtones. Low-grade tracks will end up as fuzzy sounding ringtones. Those feel jarring to the ears when played on the speaker of your device.
The app doesn’t need anything from your smartphone or tablet. It will only save the ringtones you make. This is one of the few ringtone apps for Android which don’t even ask for your email address. I think that this is a safe app and it won’t try to steal your data.
MP3 Cutter and Ringtone Maker is more of a tool than an app. Like any other tool, the results depend on your own creativity and skills. If you have a large selection of MP3 songs on your smartphone, this app will come in real handy.I’ve made several ringtones out of the guitar solos in my songs.
