Google Search Gets A New Look On Mobile Devices

Google just unveiled a fresh new look on its Search results on mobile devices. And already it has been regarded to as somewhat a News Feel-like design.

In an official blog posted by the tech company, Google Search’s design noticeably displays the website’s branding front and center. In every search result, you will see the website’s name and logo on the top-most of the page.

The new design features the “name of the website and its icon at the top of the results card to help anchor each result, so you can more easily scan the page of results and decide what to explore next,” explains Google Senior Interaction Designer for Search, Jamie Leach.

When Google wants to show you a “useful ad”, it will appear with a bolded “Ad” label. Plus, the web address is also included so you can quickly identify the source of the ad.

The update on the design also allows Google to add new action buttons and previews. This includes the ability to buy movie tickets or play podcasts to the results page.

With the new design, Google is hoping that it will be easier to know where the information is coming from. The company also added that, if you are publisher you will also be able to add and choose your preferred favicon for organic listings.

“Over the years, the amount and format of information available on the web has changed drastically—from the proliferation of images and video, to the availability of 3D objects you can now view in AR,” the company stated in its blog post, adding that the Search results should change too.

According to Google, the update will start rolling to mobile first over the next few days. There is also a pretty good chance that we will see the update on the desktop too.
